Couples Counselling

Support for couples who want to better understand one another, improve communication, or find a way forward.

What Brings Couples to Counselling

No two relationships are the same, but many couples come to counselling because they feel stuck in patterns they don't know how to change.

You may be struggling with communication, rebuilding trust after betrayal, navigating differences in intimacy, parenting, finances, or simply feeling disconnected from one another. Some couples come hoping to strengthen their relationship. Others come because they're unsure what the future holds.

Whatever brings you in, counselling offers a space to slow down and better understand what is happening between you.

What Our Work Together Might Look Like

My role is not to decide who is right or wrong. Instead, I help you understand the patterns that keep pulling you into the same conversations and the same frustrations.

Together, we'll look at what happens before conflict begins, how each of you experiences those moments, and the ways you're trying to protect yourselves. Those responses often make perfect sense on their own, but when they meet each other, they can leave both people feeling unheard.

Alongside that understanding, we'll work on practical ways to communicate differently outside the counselling room. The goal isn't to follow a script. It's to make small, realistic changes that continue to make a difference when life gets busy.

My Approach to couples counselling

I work hard to create a space where both people feel heard and respected. That doesn't mean agreeing with everything that's said. It means making sure each person has the opportunity to be understood while gently challenging the patterns that are keeping the relationship stuck.

If I notice a conversation heading toward a place you've both been many times before, I'll slow it down so we can understand what's happening instead of repeating it. I'll also be honest if I notice something that may be contributing to the cycle you're caught in.

Not every couple comes to counselling with the goal of staying together. Some are looking to reconnect, while others are trying to navigate a respectful separation. Both are valid reasons to seek support, and my role is to help you move through that process with care and clarity.

Booking a Session

Finding the right counsellor is important, and I don't expect you to know whether we're a good fit from a website alone.

That's why I offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation. It's an opportunity for us to talk about what's bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you might have, and decide together whether working together feels like the right next step, without any pressure or obligation.

I see clients in person in Burnaby at the Burnaby Therapy Collective, in Kitsilano, and online throughout British Columbia.

If you'd like to learn more about session fees, insurance coverage, or billing, you can find those details on my Rates page.
